Comment on Infrastructure Private Equity: The Definitive Guide by Taylor https://mergersandinquisitions.com/infrastructure-private-equity/#comment-878099 Thu, 27 Jun 2024 23:38:51 +0000 https://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/?p=7563#comment-878099 In reply to Taylor.

To add, my background in macro S&T has equipped me with a deep understanding of global economic indicators and their impact on asset performance. On the txn side, I’ve managed complex digital infrastructure deals, which are increasingly relevant as technology integrates more with traditional infrastructure.

Specifically, the Bitcoin mining deal I worked on required complex merger modeling around capacity utilization on a per-site basis. This involved detailed financial projections, sensitivity analyses, and optimizing operational efficiency. My role was critical in assessing cost synergies and ensuring the scalability of operations.

In addition, the Ethereum staking deal involved financial modeling for a company running validator nodes on behalf of clients. They managed 100+ servers and used a proprietary method of capping roughly x servers per y “cluster” to distribute nodes efficiently. My role included projecting new CapEx under these capacity assumptions and forecasting the impact of growing Ethereum under management on server expenses.

Figured I provide more context. Looking forward to your thoughts!

I’ve got a pretty broad experience, beginning in macro S&T before transitioning to tech IB. Covered digital assets, namely digital infra-related deals so think Bitcoin mining & ethereum staking.

My passion is macro / real assets – any thoughts on transitioning to infra PE?

Regarding the off cycle internships, do you have any idea of what the recruiting timeline is like as well as just the overall internship timeline? Thanks!

Comment on Equity Research Careers: A Day in the Life, Advancement, Compensation, and Exit Opportunities by SW https://mergersandinquisitions.com/equity-research-careers/#comment-877916 Tue, 25 Jun 2024 22:43:01 +0000 https://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/?p=4031#comment-877916 Hi Brian,

The article was extremely informative, thank you so much! I do have the age old question: how do I go about cracking ER? Ofcourse, depends on several variables, listed below-
1. Education: BS Finance, Diploma in Financial Mgmt, MS Finance (in a Russell Group uni in the UK), CFA L1 candidate (thorough with the portion, just waiting on my exam date really)
2. Work Experience: Currently a Financial Data Analyst at a worldwide top financial services firm. (for reference – this has nothing to do with deals, M&A, equity research in the slightest unfortunately)
3. Grades: Masters – 2:1 (1% off distinction)
4. Networking: Unfortunately very limited, barely anything really. Primarily because I’m not very sure as to who do I reach out to in the first place?

Further, does the CFA really boost your ER application to new levels?

Thank you so so much for this article. Very grateful in advance for answering my long question! :)

Comment on The Credit Analyst Career Path: How to Get Into Finance Through the Side Door by Jason https://mergersandinquisitions.com/credit-analyst-career-path/#comment-877842 Tue, 25 Jun 2024 02:38:35 +0000 https://mergersandinquisitions.com/?p=34040#comment-877842 In reply to M&I – Brian.

Thank you! I should have clarified, I’m in the unique position of currently working as a credit analyst while completing my degree. I started out as a consumer loan officer with the bank to put away money during school, but networked my way into the credit analyst position just under a year ago. I should have around 1.5 years of experience in credit analysis by the time I graduate, with no internships. I’m also hoping that the full-time school+job combo will showcase the type of workload that I can handle. At that point, do you think I may have a chance at full-time recruiting after graduation since it’s similar to a lateral move?

Comment on From Wealth Management to Investment Banking: How to Make the Leap by Malaysian https://mergersandinquisitions.com/wealth-management-to-investment-banking/#comment-877839 Tue, 25 Jun 2024 02:19:36 +0000 https://mergersandinquisitions.com/?p=37652#comment-877839 In reply to EA.

Congrats, may I know what are the key points of your success? I am in WM at the largest bank in Malaysia (Maybank/CIMB) and have done the CFA L1 exam and write an equity research report with comps/dcf. I got a few contacts that can pass along my resume to the “right person” but have not been able to network, like call or coffee chat with anyone in the industry yet. Would really appreciate your insights.

For context, I’m a non-target in IB in a niche group that’s not known for exits.
