You can use either one, but if you have an actual IB internship, either this template or the IB Associate one (with just 1 page and no separate deal sheet) might be better. But if you only worked on a data room and a few RFPs, you don’t want to spin the experience too much because it will be very difficult to explain the details of the entire deal processes.

Hi Brian! I’m now finishing a 6 month investment banking internship and wish to pursue other internships/grad positions still in IB. Does it make sense to use this template and spin pitches into deals or would the standard undergrad template you have here at M&I be more adequate? I was a part of an execution that’s about to close but I entered at a late stage so I ended up just working on data room stuff and helping out on some management presentation slides. I’m also a bit reluctant to put it as it might raise some interview questions that would be tough to answer since I wasn’t a part of the deal from the start and don’t know that much about it honestly. Aside from that, worked on a few RFPs where I made more relevant contributions which I could talk about in more detail but I’m not sure what’s expected from a CV given my type of experience.

You can list some of your experience before PE, but try to summarize it and keep it to maybe 1-2 bullet points per role at most because none of that older experience matters much on a relative basis.

I would very much appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks!

No. 1-page resume unless they ask for a separate page with just deal experience or extended deal experience. 2-page resumes are for actual senior people such as Managing Directors or Partners with 20+ years of experience.

Assuming 4 years of work experience in IB / PE (2 + 2) pre-MBA.

Thanks. I would try to spin your internship and early-on-the-job deals and pitches into sounding more substantial, even if it is a huge stretch to do so.

With on-cycle starting so early nowadays (right after training). Would you consider using the PE resume for undergrads where there is less focus on the deals or try to spin deals from your internship experience into a majority of your resume. This would be for a current senior planning to do on-cycle when it starts in a few months. Thanks!

We don’t have anything more specific, so the “Experienced Banker” template is the closest match. But you could potentially use this one and put your current degree at the top.

Do you have anything in particular for those recruiting from full-time MBA programs, with deal experience? Or will the experienced banker one work? I did the following career path Consulting -> IB -> Corp Dev -> MBA
